Ronel is a technical theatre practitioner with a career spanning over 20-years. She qualified with a diploma in Theatre Technology from Pretoria Technicon (now Tswane University of Technology) and later returned to complete a BTech. Following it up with a Master of Arts from the University of Cape Town exploring her passion in creating sustainability in the performing arts through better arts administration teaching practices for artists.
Ronel’s extensive career as a stage manager has afforded her the opportunity to travel the world with productions visiting China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Qatar, Greece, Norway and Sweden. She’s a production manager, previously with Cape Town Opera and currently with the University of Cape Town’s Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance studies, and also a lighting designer, most recently in 2018 for Tara Notcutt’s The Taming of the Shrew at Maynardville Amphitheatre.
She works in all aspects of performing arts, believing each project teaches something new about yourself and the world you live in. Her passion lies in connecting individual artist to networks that improve the sustainability of their work, making improbable connections that could lead to great collaborations. And she also loves proudly showing the world her country, South Africa, and her home town: Cape Town.
